September  13,2013.
SEMINAR ON DRUG ABUSE ,ALCOHOLISM  AND ALTRUISM
               NSS has organised a seminar on drug abuse among the teenage students  by teaming with muvattupuzha subdivision of police. A team of police personnel headed by Mr. Gigimon DYSP of Police , presented the Programme to the very needy ones  in the school. They  urged the students to know the reality and keep away all the antisocial behaviours  which would hamper mind ,body and spirit. ASI Mr. Vijayan introduced the topic and initiated  the session earlier. The Programme Started By 9.30am and ended By 1.00pm.

2013 September18 &19
Day 1.
Minicamp for the II year volunteers on 18th and 19th September
As planned, we have organized 2 days Minicamp at our school.
All the volunteers have reported at 9.30 am. We have started our programme by 10 ‘O clock .the programme was inaugurated by PTA President Mr. Peter P.C. Volunteers were grouped into different activity groups
Morning session was used for the preparation of land for planting tapioca cuttings. Even though rain interrupted, the land preparation continued till lunch time.
After lunch we have had an awareness programme on Traffic Rules and Regulations. This Seminar was taken by the Muvattupuzha traffic SI
Mr. Vijayan .
The day ended by singing National Anthem.





















































Day 2.
           The programme started by 9.30 am by singing NSS song.
The tapioca planting programme continues till the lunch time.
Mr. Jishin and Althaf reported yesterday’s programme and prepared camp paper.
Volunteer leaders Amal Buinu and Bincy Benny have and other team members prepared an NSS manuscript. A sumptuous lunch was provided to the campers.
After lunch at 2.00pm there was a seminar on Multiple Intelligence conducted by Mr. Joy Joseph, Management Trainer.
At 3.00pm we have made a field visit to the nearby Kerala Water Authority office and observed the pumping operations going on there.
The pumping of water from Muvattupuzha river, its aeration, sedimentation, clarification, filtration, and chlorination etc. were explained to the campers in detail.
By 4.30pm the 2 days camp closed after valedictory function.

NSS DAY CELEBRATION
               NSS state liaison cell has organized the NSS day celebrations at Municipal Townhall Aluva today.State has organized the award giving ceremony for the best programme officer ,best unit, best volunteer etc. DHSE has been recognized by the award of best directorate lead the largest no of nss units.From our unit the following10(list attached) volunteers and programme officer Mr. Raju K.N.  have participated the event in time. All the units have presented 5 nos. of posters showing their multifarious activities undertaken in their  level of units.
The  Minister for Education Mr. P.K.Abdurb has inaugurated the awarding ceremony in presence of Aluva MLA,MP , Aluva Municipal Chairman etc .

LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP
                     DHSE has organized a 3 day workshop for volunteer  leaders  at JEEVARAM BETHANI ASRAM at  Mavelikkara. From this unit Ms. Arathi Saji (Humanities one) and Basil Varghese (Commerce one) are sent to participate in the volunteer leadership camp.

SEVANADINAM
         October first week is observed as sevanavaram and in the school it was delimited to sevnadinam
        All the first year classes participated in the programme along with their class  teachers and assigned helping teachers. All the classes were given destined areas to be cleared. They have done it well with their teachers. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Smt. Indira K

Release of New Bulletin (Weekly)  and Malayalam Manuscript,POOPALIKA
                       For the firswt time in the history of GHSS, Sivankunnu,Muvattupuzha , NSS UNIT  has prepared a weekly newspaper. The first print  was released in the ocassion of PTA general body on 10.10.2013 by Mr. U.R. Babu , Municipal Chairman ,Muvattupuzha. In the same ocassion POOPALIKA, a malayalam manuscript  was also released by him.

PALLIATIVE WALKATHON
                               October 12 is observed as world palliative day. On behalf of this occasion we have participated in a  walkathon organized jointly by the NSS UNIT of Nirmala College, muvattupuzha, Alpha palliative care, and Federal Bank.The walkathon flaqgged off by the Municipal chairman , Sri. U.R. Babu at 10’o clock at Nehru Park ,Muvattupuzha.
                             This was to give an awareness to the public that aged and diseased to be taken care of. The walkathon ended at the Nirmala higher secondary school ground ,Muvattupuzha. The chairman of Alpha Palliative Care , Mr. K.P.Nooradeen, emphasized the importance of palliative care and lead the oath taking ceremony to all the participants.

Seminar on global warming and ozone depletion and quiz competition
                    NSS  has organized a seminar on global warming and ozone depletion to give an awareness to the NSS  volunteers about the importance of thegreen house gases and other ozone depletion  materials and the behavioural changes we need to create in us and others to  save the mother  earth
The seminar was conducted by our chemistry teacher Mr. Anand N.
After the seminar Anand sir conducted  a quiz programme on the same topic and given prizes to the winners.

2013 Nov.1
Birth day of Kerala celebratioins
We have observed the day as the day of Malayalam, As the department envisages we have made a pledgein the morning assembly  to rededicate ourself to uplift the amma Malayalam. All volunteers ,students,staff  and principal participated  in the event.
Principal has read the pledge to the whole school.
On this occasion NSS has organized an article writing campaign to show their lovingness to their Amma Malayalam .

Pre camp orientation training  at SNHSS,AYYAPPANKAVU,Ernakulam

                NSS Ernakulam district has organized a precamp orientation programmefor the volunteers on 06.011.2013 at SNHSS, Ayyappankavu, Ernakulam. From this unit along with programme officer ,two volunteers also participated. Volunteers are Jibin (c1) and Manjusha (H1)
Diaries and Registers were also distributed in  the camp. There was programme officers meeting and discussed about the state level inauguration of krishikkoottam project at Palakuzha GHSS on 21.11.2013. It was decided to sent 2or 3 volunteers and programme officer to the function

Antialcholism training class organized in CUSAT CAMPUS.
Science for people at CUSAT has organized an antialcoholism class for NSS volunteers of Ernakulam Dist. From our unit two nss volunteers have atteneded the programme  on 9.11.2013, 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
