2013 JUNE 5
WORLD ENVIRNMENT DAY CELEBRATIONS
                           NSS district committee organized state level WED celebrations @ SNM, HSS, Moothakunnam.  We participated the programme by joining the team with 2 boys and 2 girls volunteers along with the Programme Officer Sri. Raju. K.N. The  programme involved release of fish ‘seeds ‘into the river, planting trees and a seminar on environmental issues after a rally went around the school area. Various NSS units of Ernakulam district, State co-coordinator Mr. Subairkutty, Dist. Co-ordinator  Mr. Vinod , Programme Officers ,Volunteers took part in the programme .

KRISHIKKOOTTAM PROJECT
As part of WED celebrations we have planted many no. of trees and as part of krishikkoottam project we have planted 20  plantain saplings .
         Principal Smt. Elsamma Cherian inaugurated the event in presence of PTA President Sri. Peter P.C,. Programme Officer Sri. Raju K.N has narrated the importance of the day and our objective is to get safe food and enough food through organic cultivation.
The whole school along with NSS Volunteers was participated and involved and made the event a successful one.

Preparation For Poster Exhibition on Fevers and Rainy Season Diseases.
The rainy season is also is a season of fevers. In this context the NSS team has planned to have a poster exhibition on different types of fevers and to have a class on fevers by an expert from the medical world.
Our NSS volunteers collected a good amount of materials and made charts displaying various fevers, causes, remedies, precautions to be taken etc. All the volunteers were participated in the collection of data from the dailies and magazines. The volunteers participated in the final preparation were,

FEVER POSTER EXHIBITION  AND AWARENESS SEMINAR
Posters on fever exhibited in the school premises. Dr. Aji Balakrishnan , Director Charis Hospital, Muvattupuzha inaugurated the event  and took an awareness class on fevers for the school. He urged the students to keep the premises clean, take clean food and if fever comes do not treat oneself.
The whole school was benefitted from the fever poster exhibition.

ANTIDRUG DAY
Antidrug day was observed as per envisaged by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education.
Students took oath in the morning assembly that they wouldn’t buy, use or sell and knew the life threatening after effects of the drugs.

POSTER EXHIBITION ON FEVERS AT VIII WARD OF MARDY GRAMAPANCHAYATH.
                  NSS unit had organized a fever poster exhibition and a health seminar at VIII ward of  Marady Grama Panchayath. Marady Grama Panchayath President  Sri. O.P. Baby inaugurated the event at 2pm at Kakkoochira Nursery. Panchayath Vice President Smt. Jancy Devasya  presided the function and NSS Programme Officer Sri. Raju K.N. took the seminar on different types of fevers, their prevention, and precaution and how to treat them.
       Block Grama Panchayath Member Smt. Latha Sivan ,Asa worker Smt. Preethi Unni were present and felicitated the programme. About 80 villagers have attended the programme.

Preparation For The Puzhayoram Suchikarana Yajnam and Health Seminar Organized By NSS, BMC, and Muvattupuzha Municipality collectively.
We have planned to have cleaning campaign in NSS adopted village of Muvattupuzha Municipality, the ward XI of Sri. B.N Sasi, Ward Councillor.
NSS volunteers along with BMC volunteers (79 volunteers) entrusted to involve in the campaign organized after consulting Municipal Chairman Sri. U.R Babu and Ward Councillor Sri. B.N. Sasi.
                   We the Programme Officer, Rajuk.N. and BMC Faculty In Charge Smt. Jancy M.P grouped the volunteers into eight teams and each team was in charge  of a teacher.The teacher in charge was helped by a team leader from volunteers. They were given necessary  instructions to get maximum rapport from the villagers and to keep strict discipline.  The day for the campaign fixed was on July 8,2013. The line bus going to Randar was arranged to reach the volunteers to the place. Tea and lunch were arranged with the help of Kudumbasree members .

The Puzhayoram Suchikarana Yajnam and Health Seminar
               We , the teachers in charge and the NSS and BMC volunteers reached Randarkara village in time .The Cleaning campaign programme was inaugurated by the Muvattupuzha Municipality Chairman Sri. U.R. Babu at 10 am. The XI ward Councilor  Mr. B.N. Sasi  presided the occasion . NSS Programme Officer Sri. Raju K.N. welcomed the guests, the participants and villagers. Sri.Abidili, former NSS Programme Officer and PTA President Sri. Peter P.C felicitated the programme.
Bmc Fic Smt. Jancy M.P. paid the vote of thanks.after teabreak teams escorted by thie teacher in charges and kudumbasree members reached their destined kadavu.
They were whole heartedly involved in imparting their role in community service and made a difference. The enthusiastic and hardworking youth were happy to have such an exposure to the public and getting the full rapport of the community. The village community expressed their gratitude in helping to beatify their surroundings .
The Lunch prepared by kudumbsree members ,served to the volunteers at 1.45pm.
Second session, Health Seminarand poster exhibition , started at   2.30pm which was inaugurated by Sri. Santhosh , Standing Committee Chairman, Health , Muvattupuzha Municipality. There was fever poster exhibition prepared by volunteers.
The seminar on fevers and general health was taken by the P.P Unit Head, TQH, Muvattupuzha.The programme was ended by planting three trees in the courtyard of EMS Vayanasala, Randar.BMC volunteer Ms. Arvia   gave the vote of thanks. The programme ended at 3.45 pm.

12 August 2013( had  to be on 5th August )
Antiwar slogan writing competition on Hiroshima day
                Due to heavy pouring District collector declared holidays on 5th / 7th August. So we couldn’t conduct the scheduled antiwar slogan writing competition and badge wearing campaign on behalf of Hiroshima/Nagasaki day.
           Today NSS conducted the competition and the whole school participated including teachers. This was to give the younger generation to ponder over the multifarious sufferings of the victims a war and thus creating an antiwar sense in them and to uphold the necessity of peace and development.
All the students participated in the event. Class teachers were entrusted to conduct the competition in their classes.
The best slogans were selected by a panel of teachers and given prizes to the first three toppers.

 School Campus Cleaning Programme
                NSS has had a leading role in organizing mass school campus cleaning programme.  All the classes were allotted a particular area of school campus for cleaning. This was done to instill the idea of cleanliness is goodliness and to inculcate the idea of dignity of labour. All the class teachers and all the students of all the classes participated in the programme.

Quiz Competition On Independence Day
                  NSS has organized a Quiz Programme on today on behalf of the 67th Independence Day celebrations in our school. There was a preliminary selection round and selected 4 teams of two members each. The final round was held in the school auditorium at 2.00 pm and ended by 4.00pm.The winners were awarded prizes. My Badge-My Slogan: Antiwar Badge Wearing Campaign.
          NSSW has organized an Antiwar Badge Wearing Campaign on behalf of Hiroshima day to inculcate a sense of hatred against war as they depict the multifarious sufferings in their badge which are unearthed in the minds of the young population.

Independence Day celebrations
         NSS was the team organizer of the Independence day celebrations in our school. Hundred and fifty students were attended the ceremonial function in the early hours of the day. At 8.00 am Principal Smt. Indira K. hoisted the National Flag in the school courtyard. School Headmistress, teaching and nonteaching staff and students were present in the function. Students sang national anthem and patriotic songs. Principal and HM had given the Independence Day messages. NSS Programme Officer Sri. Raju K.N also gave the message and led the programme. By 8.25 am we marched towards Nehru Park to participate in the rally organized by the Muvattupuzha municipality. We joined them with placards of patriots and their valiant words written on the placards.
We marched along with other schools and departments to the Nirmala Higher Secondary School ground were the gathering addressed by the MLA Sri. Joseph Vazhackan, Municipal Chairman Sri. U.R. Babu, councilors and other dignatories. The programme ened by 11.30 am.

Inauguration of NSS Activities For The Year 2013-14
         These years’ NSS activities have been solemnly inaugurated by the Muvattupuzha MLA Sri. Joseph Vazhakkan.  Mr. U.R. Babu, Municipal Chairman presided the occasion. Along with NSS, inaugurations of ASAP and BMC were also done. Principal Smt. Indira K. welcomed the gathering. Programme officer felicitated the occasion. To make changes in the minds of younger generation NSS can do a lot.MLA reiterated the NSS volunteers to make use of the opportunity to develop your personality through active participant in the community activity.

BIOFENCING BAMBOO PLANTS
27 AUG  2013
NSS  members planted a  variety of  Bamboo cuttings in the free area of our school
campus. Bamboo, the best Oxygen generator creates best bio-diversity area. As our
school does not have a compound wall it provides a bio fencing also. Around 30
cuttings were planted. Our HSST in Chemistry   Mr..Anand N. supplied the Bamboo cuttings.
      The Bio Mass produced by Bamboo leaves creates fertile soil which is capable of  storing large quantity of water  thereby recharging nearby wells.
