Special camp December 2013

                 This year’s  7 days special camp was organized at HM B.Ed  Training College, Randarkara,Muvattupuzha. It started on 21^st  Saturday and ended on 27^th Friday.

DAY 1,21.12.2013,Saturday

           Volunteers reported at 10 am at the venue and registration started. At 10.30 am hoisted the NSS flag in the courtyard. By the programme officer  in presence of volunteers. At 11.30 am programme officer called a meeting in the auditorium and explained the aims and objectives of seven days camp. Campers were grouped into functional groups for the seven days camp.At 2.00pm ice breaking session was organized for the acclimatisation  of campers.

                At 4.00 pm inaugural ceremony was organized at the Kottappuram Junction , Randarkara.All the volunteers werew marched to the Kottappuram junction led by programme officer, Mr. Raju K.N.

               The function was presided over by the Avoly Panchayath President  Smt. Mary Baby and inaugurated by the Muvattupuzha MLA, Sri. Joseph Vazhakkan . The key note address was given by Sri. Sainuddheen, welfare committee chairman &  II ward member, Avoly panchayath. The function was felicitated by Sri. Haneefa Randar, III ward member, Avoly, panchayath , Smt. Zeenath Usman,Block panchyath Vice president ,Haji K.K Meeran Maulavi, HM Trust Chairman, Sri. Santhoshkumar S. DPO,SSA, Idukki, Sri. Nias P. Nooh, secretary , Priyadarsini club, Randar, Sri. Muhammed Chalil, Yuvadhara Club, Randar, and Smt. Indira K. Principal,GHSS, Sivankunnu, Muvattupuzha. The programme Officer Sri. Raju K.N. welcomed the gathering and Sri. Basil Varghese ,Volunteer leader paid the vote of thanks

        At 6.30pm NSS and its relevance orientation was dealt in detail by Ex regional Co ordinator and SSA, Idukki DPO, Sri. Santhosh kumar S.with the help of slides. Dinner was at 8.00pm.and cultural programmes followed. Volunteers went to bed after 10pm.

Day 2,22.12.2013, Sunday

  Volunteers woke up at 6.00 am . by 6.30 am volunteers gathered around the flagpost and hoisted the flag, sang NSS song ,given message of the day and did morning exercise.After the b/fast volunteers marched towards the pallikadavu , a part of muvattupuzha river where the cleaning programme inaugurated by the ward member Sri. Sainudheen, 2 ward member , Avoly panchayath. Till lunch time the programme  continued and this activity was applauded by the local people /beneficiaries.

After lunch and rest, volunteers were grouped into 15 groups for visiting houses to invite the eye patients to the eye testing camp organized to be held  tomorrow in the camp. Volunteers visited about 300 families.

In the evening Sri. Noushad  M.M an NGO,environmentalist, gave a session on the ecosystem and its sustainability values .

After dinner , different group meetings were held and duties assigned to the campers. Cultural programmes followed  and lights off.

Day 3, 23.12.2013, Monday

     As usual after the daily morning activities of flag hoisiting ,assembly,message of the day, exercise and break fast we have arranged the njecessities of the smooth functioning of the eye desease checing camp in the venue.. by 8.30 am we started the eye camp  conducted by the Little Flower Hospital, ankamali.the medical team was comprising 12 members including a doctor.

 Aimed  at the Randarkara villagers ,One hundred and fifty patients were attended the programme. The eye camp extended up to 1.00 o’clock. The team was given a warm welcome and they were satisfied to have been here  for the benefit of the common mass.

After lunch and their departure we have organized a seminar on the lifestyle deiseases for the volunteers. This was led by the NRHM director Dr. Daisy Markose  from thaluk hospital, Muvattupuzha.

After the seminar we hav had a walkarthon to the Companippadi junction to give an awareness to the mass  that walking is the very simple way to get rid of the lifestyle diseases.

At 8.00 pm dinner was served . thereafter the cultural programme started . By the camp briefing , at 10.00 pm today’s programme ended.

Day 4, 24.12.2013, Tuesday

After the regular beginnings of flaghoisting ,nss song,exercise and b/fast, the campers were grouped into working groups and marchged towards the kottappuram junction.Today the cleaning of the junction was planned. To involve the community in the programme , the cleaning programme was inaugurated by the Block Panchayath Vice President Smt. Zeenath Usman in presence of 2^nd ward member, Sri. Sainudheen.

We have planted a tree in the courtyard of Yuvadhara club , and entrusted the shop owners to water the plant every day.Later the nearby PHC was also cleaned

After the lunch,at 2.00pm we have toilet soap making programme for the campers and the public.

               At 3.00pm , as today is the Christmas eve, we invited a guest speaker to give a Christmas day message by Fr. Saju K. Mathai, Randarkara. He gave the message and had cut a Christmas day cake for the campers.

                               At  5.00pm, District Monitorim team comprised of Dist. Convenor, Sri. Vinod T.N and Sri. Sugathan, Kothamangalam ,visited the camp and appreciated the volunteers for their enthusiastic participation in the camp.

 At 6.00pm there was Christmas Carrol in the gathering.Camp briefing and lights off followed.

Day 5, 25.12.2013 Wednesday.

       After the morning activities and breakfast, we started campus cleaning, garden making and campus beautification. After lunch “the spring season of teenage”, a class conducted by Mr. Abiddili.E.Edakkattil,HSST(HG) in English, GMHSS,Palakuzha.

There after the camp title programme SNEHAYANAM PROGRAMME  occurred. The coordination committee members came and shared their life of success to the volunteers and enlightened them for their  social concern  for a good life

Day 6, 26.12.2013 Thursday

After the morning activities and breakfast students were grouped int functional groups and gardening work continued.

         After the lunch Excise Department ,Muvattupuzha has organized a class on the burning issue of “drug abuse and teenage”.The seminar was led by Excise inspector Sri. Anilkumar , and the class was conducted by Sri. Job V.T.  Civil Excise Officer, Muvattupuzha.

Sri. Satheesh Regional coordinator visited the camp and addressed the campers.The day ended with the camp fire with its elegance after the dinner

Day 7,27.12.2013 ,Friday .

                Last day of the camp. As usual morning activities performed and cleaning the rooms and premises done. Volunteers are asked to pack their luggages and complete their diaries.

                At 1.00pm lunch was served and by 1.30pm we gathered in the auditorium and analysed the whole camp and each volunteer opined that this was a memorable event in the life of them. By 2.30pm campers  departed to their homes
